The
Eastern Workforce Investment Board is the governing body of the Eastern
Workforce Investment Area which is comprised of seven counties
in Oklahoma. These seven counties are defined by three labor market areas:
LMA-18: Okmulgee County; LMA-22: McIntosh, Muskogee, & Wagoner
Counties; & LMA-24: Adair, Cherokee, & Sequoyah Counties. The
principal office is located in Muskogee, Oklahoma.
EWIB is a nonprofit organization incorporated under the laws of the State of Oklahoma and recognized by the Oklahoma Employment Security Commission, the State Workforce Investment Board, and the Governor as the proper body to carry out the purposes and functions of the Workforce Investment Act of 1998.
EWIB was established in compliance with the Workforce Investment Act of 1998 (Public Law 105-220, August 7, 1998 Enacted Workforce Development Legislation) to act as a full partner with local elected officials in setting policy and overseeing Workforce Investment Programs in the Workforce Investment Area.
